Soa “The Hulk” Palelei takes the World IKBF Super Heavyweight MMA Title, at Perth’s Bragging Rights Event.

K-Oz Entertainment held it’s inaugural Bragging Rights event before an almost capacity crowd at the WA Italian Club in Northbridge on Saturday 21st January.

The exciting night of mixed martial arts action included two title fights, appearances from the lovely SXY MMA girls and also some well known faces in the crowd such as Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne, Junior Talipeau and Xavier “X-man” Lucas to name but a few.

Headlining the event was a clash for the IKBF Super Heavyweight MMA title between local hero Soa “The Hulk” Palelei and Henry “Sentoryu” Miller (fighting out of Japan).

Both men touched gloves as the starting bell sounded and the Hulk was the first to throw with an overhand left, Miller retaliated with a quick combination, but the Hulk remained patient and composed shooting in for a double leg takedown. As both men hit the canvas Soa held the dominant position striking Miller’s head to get the mount. The Hulk then reigned down on his opponent with four hard right elbows, punches and hammerfists followed by a barrage of left right combinations forcing referee Dean Woodhams to call an end to the fight at 1:24 of the very first round and declare Soa “The Hulk” Palelei the World IKBF Super Heavy Weight Champion.

Back in the changerooms the Hulk admitted he knew he had the fight once he got the takedown. “Miller has a dangerous overhand right” said the Hulk “I knew it was safest for me to get it to the ground, so I used the jabs to feel him out until I got the takedown”.

When asked what’s next he replied with “Just to keep fighting, obviously getting back into the UFC is a goal, we have secured contracts overseas, but I really just want to keep fighting”.

Soa’s manager Peter Nicholas revealed that Soa’s team will be upping the ante and will continue the plight to get Soa back into the UFC. He also stated that they will put an emphasis on Soa’s striking level by utilising some of the best sparring partners in the world.

Soa asked us to thank Southern Cross Fit, Rapid Loss andEverything MMA on his behalf.

Hey guys hope you’re all well I woke up this morning feeling fresh and ready to take on the day and what it may throw at me. 4weeks to go till “The Hulk” fights again on the 24th of February stay tuned for details. The day started with a 5km run on the treadmill early morning even though you might feel like a zombie when you crawl out of bed in the morning, it’s still going to be the best time to give anything your full attention – after you’re fully awake that is! Most people find that after they put in a full day at work and then head to the gym their mental focus isn’t as good, they’re tired and so their workout would suffers. So give it a go in the morning guys! Southern Cross fit’s session this morning was Death By 10: 10 meters on the minute every minute, add 10 meters. This is done with a set up of 2 cones 10 meters apart, and add one return trip each minute on the minute you are to add 10 meters each round until you can no longer continue. I grab some lunch after my Crossfit session I have Paleo meatballs with a side salad. I head home and rest I don’t want to wear my body out nor do I want to get injuries with my bout being around the corner. I make my way to the gym and do a cosmetic workout. Tonight’s TEAM HULK session was at the local recreational centre we do some swimming and after that some tumbling in the sauna. After a long day of training I’ve worked up an appetite I have roast pork with vegetables for dinner, I have a lot of fish and protein in my diet and I also have a lot of vegetables. A well-rounded diet that has worked wonders with me along with the new training regime, I feel fitter faster and healthier than I have ever felt before. I visualize for 20mins and go over different scenarios for my fight and then I make my way to bed. One work out tomorrow then rest on sunday. Guys have a kick ass weekend and get ready to kick ass again on Monday keep focus and keep going forward guys don’t let anything get in your way. All Day Every Day.

Perth fighter wants another crack at UFC

Perth fighter wants another crack at UFCThe cage is set for Soa Palelei to take another step towards an Ultimate Fighting Championship return.Four years ago, the self-styled Hulk’s appearance on UFC 79 ended with a technical knockout defeat to Eddie Sanchez in Las Vegas and he is determined to climb back to the sport’s pinnacle.

“The goal is to get back to the UFC but at the moment we are just racking up as many fights as we can,” Palelei said before tonight’s super-heavyweight clash with Henry Miller at the WA Italian Club.

“We’ve got a few other contracts on the table for other big organisations in America, but I’ve got some unfinished business in the UFC.

“If it takes us nine or 10 fights before we’re ready, that’s what we’ll do because we want to be 150 per cent ready before we hop into the UFC again.”

Tonight’s nine-fight “Bragging Rights” program, which pits Australian and American fighters against each other, is only the third cage event sanctioned by the WA Professional Sports Combat Commission.

But more regular events are expected to take place as the mixed martial arts scene continues its rapid growth.

Promoter Grady Stewart said the perception of some people in Perth that MMA was the brutal pastime of thugs was out of sync with elsewhere in the world. “Without being insulting, a lot of people used to think the earth was flat,” he said. “When it was proved to them it’s actually round, they accepted it.

“Perth is like that with MMA because everywhere else it’s understood. It’s not about the guy who’s sitting at the bar and who’s had 18 beers and took three jujitsu classes and thinks he can snap someone’s arm. These tough guys eat right, train hard and don’t go around picking fights.”

Hey guys hope you all had a bad ass kick ass day, this morning I go to the local Recreational Center and hit the spa. Whether you are an athlete or just aching from every day activities a spa can be used in repairing sore muscles and injuries. Back pain, neck pain and soreness can be eased with just a quick dip in your spa. I have breakfast on today’s menu is Iron man Omlette; I also make sure I take my vitamins. I head to Southern Cross fit, these guys are the best I wouldn’t be in the shape I’m in if it wasn’t for them, not only do they do our conditioning but they also teach us about dieting. Southern Cross Fit fosters an environment of friendly competition, camaraderie, community spirit and respect. We will train you with intensity, commitment, and above all SAFETY. I meet with my marketing team we discuss a new sponsor, that’s wanting to come on board and we go over details for a charity event I’ve been asked to attend in Sydney. Over lunch I have chicken vegetable skewers, and plenty of water. The functions of water in human body are vital. The water: Transport nutrients and oxygen into cells, Moisturizes the air in lungs Helps with metabolism, Protect our vital organ, Helps our organs to absorb nutrients better, Regulates body temperature, Detoxifies & Protect and moisturizes our joints. Every cell in your body needs water from head to toe. That is why it is so important to drink enough fluid. Take for example, brain consists of 90% of water, if you do not supply enough water to your body, your brain cannot function well, and you will get headache or migraine. Hence, next time, if you feel fatigue and headache, it may be the sign of dehydration. I have a rest and relax for a while. 6:30pm I get to Hulk MMA for the Rapid Burn Class, and straight after that we do the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. I leave my head quarters and head home for dinner I have grilled fish and a salad. I chill out and watch a movie, and then I head to bed. Guys have a safe Australia Day tomorrow. All Day Every Day.

Hey guys, hope you guy’s kicked ass in your day. This morning I go for a swim on the beach and do some beach runs. Breakfast this morning consisted of scrambled eggs with spinach, remember Popeye? He squeezed those cans of spinach into his mouth and instantly developed muscles and super strength (lol) spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, magnesium, folate, manganese, iron, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin B2, potassium, and vitamin B6. It’s a very good source of protein, phosphorus, vitamin E, zinc, dietary fiber, and copper. Plus, it’s a good source of selenium, niacin, and omega-3 fatty acids. Wait till after the fight il be squeezing KFC lol. I have my strength and condition session this morning at Crossfit today it was 2 Rounds for time: 750m Row & 20 Handstand Push Ups “The Hulk” completed in 7:18. Afterwards I have some lunch I have grilled salmon patties with a side salad and water, mixed martial arts athletes compete in a grueling and demanding sport. It stands to reason that these athletes stay in peak condition by eating healthful food, substituting muscle for fat, and working out relentlessly. This evening I did 1 hour of grappling and takedowns (Grappling takes elements of various wrestling styles, Judo, Japanese Jujutsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and many of the other ground arts. Some benefits of grappling are: Improved Speed and Agility, enhanced Flexibility, Increased Endurance & Burns Fat & Tones Muscle. It’s been a long day with 2 business meetings, it’s a vicious cycle but I love every part of it. I make my way home and I have Paleo meatballs for dinner with grilled capsicum, tomatoes and mushrooms. Guys if you have any questions about diet or exercise please don’t hesitate to contact me on here or on my websitewww.soathehulk.com. Much love to you all good night keep safe and train hard.
